Description
People have always looked to animals as illustrations & models of behavior, good and bad. It is only a short leap from these fables to the conviction that certain behaviors in humans and non-humans alike are natural, mean to be the way they are. Particularly when it comes to gender, though, we run the risk of seeing animals as role models, much the way that scientists rely on certain species as model systems, using them to make a point about values.
