“Giant Mice and a Giant Question" by Prof. Mark Nolte, Department of Genetics

Event Details

Date
Wednesday, August 10, 2016
Time
7 p.m.
Description
Island-colonizing species have often evolved extreme body sizes — either dwarfism or gigantism. A striking example of island gigantism can be found on Gough Island, where the largest wild house mice in the world have evolved. We will discuss the ways in which genes behave differently between Gough Island and mainland mice to learn about the genetic basis of island gigantism evolution.
