ICAP: A Theoretical Framework for Active Learning Michelene Chi will discuss a framework based on the perspective of learners that defines four different ways students can engage with instructional materials: interactive, constructive, active and passive. She will summarize the results of a classroom intervention to explain how these perspectives can predict and inform effective instruction.
