Join us for a panel led by UW-Madison professor Yoshiko Herrera with UW-Madison graduate students Dmitri Kofanov and Anton Shirikov: Since the fall of communism and end of the USSR, the question of what to call the regions of countries in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union has vexed scholars. In this paper presentation, these issues will be addressed empirically, using model-based cluster analysis to examine how similar or different are 29 post-communist countries of Eurasia.
