Description
The Bindlestiffs are a remarkable collection of local musicians...
Tom Waselchuk founded the band The Dang-Its, which have taken home a host of MAMA Awards, including 2014 Country/Bluegrass Album of the Year. Tom’s musical resume includes work with The Stone Oak Band, The Full Count Jazz Band, Chris Plata & Extra Hot, and Marcy and the Highlights.Doug Brown is a multi-instrumentalist and composer. He has performed with and produced many recordings for a host of local artists. His talents have graced the stages of major music festivals in the United States and worldwide.
Randal Harrison’s violin prowess has earned him many accolades, including MAMA awards for Best Blues Artist and Classical Artist of the Year. Besides local recognition, Randal is an Emmy-nominated composer. (This is his second concert at the Schoolhouse, after performing last year with Ken Lonnquist.)
Rounding out the Bindlestiffs is town of Vermont resident Johnny Widdicombe. The John Widdicombe Trio and his work with the Piper Road String Band and the Dixie Sizzlers have made him a sought-after talent. (Area residents will remember his set at the Mount Horeb Senior Center Fundraiser.)Webster’s describes a bindle stiff as a hobo--one who carries his or her possessions in a rolled up bindle. What these Bindlestiffs will be packing are great tunes, wonderful harmonies, and instrumental excellence.
