Description
Madison favorite We Banjo 3 is a headliner of the Madison Celtic Festival. From Galway, Ireland, We Banjo 3 are the true originators of a new genre of music that combines traditional Irish music with American bluegrass music to form "Celtgrass."  Made up of two sets of siblings — brothers Enda Scahill (tenor banjo, vocals) and Fergal Scahill (fiddle, viola, dobro, percussion, guitar, mandolin, vocals) and brothers Martin Howley (tenor banjo, mandolin, vocals) and David Howley (lead vocals, guitar) – We Banjo 3 finds a natural symmetry as well as a cohesive chemistry that’s been imbued in the band ever since they were initially drawn to one another by their common creative interests. We Banjo 3 is literally taking both sides of the Atlantic by storm, carving a reputation as one of the world’s most imaginative ensembles. “The banjo has for too long languished on the periphery, treading a path between margins too narrow to fully exploit its full potential. Recent years have changed all that, though, with We Banjo 3 boldly excavating the instrument’s rich expanse to impressive effect”- The Irish Times “Two sets of brothers in perfect musical harmony. In all our years, we have never seen a stunning opening like this by a traditional group. The current talk of the business, and rightly so.”- Concert of the Year- We Banjo 3- Irishfest Milwaukee In addition, folk band Talisk will open the night with their own performance. Talisk was named 2017 "Folk Band of the Year" by the MG Alba Scots Trad Awards. The band, which consists of  Mohsen Amini  (concertina),  Hayley Keenan  (fiddle) and  Graeme Armstrong  (guitar), have created energetic and captivating music that is sure to engage the crowd in what will surely be a night of Celtic celebration. More information on We Banjo 3 and Talisk can be found on their websites.
