Conventional wisdom holds that leaders should behave in a supportive and positive manner. Yet, the past decade has seen a rise in naysayers ascending to power. Eileen Chou, a social psychologist at the University of Virginia’s Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, will share her research investigating the possibility that while we may want our leaders to be cheerleaders, we instead empower naysayers.
