La Cineteca italiana is a weekly film series that showcases a variety of Italian films with English subtitles.
This week we are screening Ettore Scola’s “Una giornata particolare,” a beautifully shot film that tells the tale of two neighbors: a marginalized housewife, played by Sophia Loren, and an isolated gay man, played by Marcello Mastroianni. On the "special day" when Hitler visits Rome, the two neighbors serendipitously meet and form a unique and intimate friendship.
