The UW-Madison First Nations Cultural Landscape Tour examines the 12,000 years of humanity documented along the shores of Waksikhomik (original Ho-Chunk language name for Lake Mendota). On this place-based learning tour, participants visit a 1,200-year-old archaeological site and visit campus landmarks illuminating the university’s ongoing relationships with the contemporary First Nations of Wisconsin, including the Ho-Chunk Nation, on whose ancestral lands the university now sits.
