Description
WUD Art is excited to present  "Tick, Snap, Smoke" by  Ali Hval, an exhibition that features multi-media paintings and installation with fabric and other various materials. Hval's pieces create a "lush atmosphere" with a combination of bright, candy-colored detailed works and more recent, muted conceptual pieces, "the way spring flowers may fade to a more muted palette... trailing off into a foggy backdrop.  My more colorful works have rhinestones embedded in them and shimmery fabrics in them which react differently under light compared to more recent works which are based more on laying of fabrics and creation of my own fabrics on various materials. However, both bodies are similar in that they are created with flexible materials that change based on the space they inhabit; in addition, both are whimsical in design and content." Join us for the dual opening reception of "Tick, Snap, Smoke" by Ali Hval and "Naalyéhé" by Dakota Mace.  The dual reception will be held at both galleries on Friday, April 20th from 6-8pm. Light refreshments will be served. "Tick, Snap, Smoke" will be located in the Class of 1925 Gallery at Memorial Union, and will run from April 20th through June 1st.
