Description
Powerhouse folk/Americana/bluegrass musicians Sara Watkins, Sarah Jarosz and Aoife O’Donovan bring together three established careers to create the Americana supergroup I’m With Her. Each woman boasts impressive accolades in the contemporary folk landscape: Watkins (fiddle) is best known for her time with Grammy Award-winning, bluegrass band Nickel Creek. Jarosz’s (mandolin, banjo, guitar) latest solo album, Undercurrent, won the 2017 Grammy Award for Best Folk Album. O’Donovan (guitar) has a successful solo folk career and was featured on Yo-Yo Ma’s Goat Rodeo Sessions in 2013. Performing around one microphone, their sound is authentic, natural and purposeful. “They know how to gather round a microphone and sing directly from their heart to yours. Purity is the brilliance behind I'm With Her.” –NPR I’m With Her’s chemistry extends beyond the stage, and is key to achieving the level of intimacy and unity evident in their performances. As Watkins succinctly puts it, “we travel well together, play well together, eat well together.” Soon after joining forces in 2015 they were thrown a curveball when Hillary Clinton dubbed her presidential campaign with the same slogan. The group decided to keep their name regardless of the political situation. “...that’s not what the band is about – we’re not making a political statement. It’s a celebration of each other. It’s camaraderie,” Watkins explains. To see I’m With Her perform is to become fully immersed in the camaraderie, showcased not only in the trio’s effortless, moving harmonies, but in their lively (not to mention frequently hilarious) stage banter as well.
