Do you want to use statistics to learn about the social world? If so, then chances are, you don't need to be worrying about getting the best estimates of your parameters. That's because you have the wrong model. So lots of what you learn in statistics is irrelevant. What you need to do is to avoid turning your ignorance into (false) knowledge. I'm going to show you that our methods often do just this.
