There are challenges in all areas of life and function for elders. Indigenous elders, while facing disparities across all facets of care, are also facing unique challenges related to their health status and function. Cultural awareness of heterogeneity of our tribes and the customs, traditions and roles of elders in communities help to provide insight and guidance around providing care.
