Description
Jordan Marche, historian of astronomy, will reflect on the history of UW-Madison's Orbiting Astronomical Observatory. OAO-2 was the first in a long line of space observatories, which now includes the Hubble Space Telescope and the James Webb Space Telescope now being readied for launch. The OAO project had deep roots in Wisconsin, and this talk will explore how they led to its success.
