Abstract: An analysis of 57 years global shipboard observations of precipitation occurrence reveals trends of up to ∼15% per decade in oceanic precipitation frequency. Negative trends are observed primarily over middle- and high-latitude oceans, while large positive trends dominate throughout the tropics and subtropics.
