Description

Deep learning is more than acquiring new knowledge. Discussions provide students with opportunities to grapple with challenging applications, gain diverse perspectives, and give and receive contextualized feedback that checks understandings. However, creating effective online forums requires a much different approach than face-to-face discussions. At this session, we will analyze asynchronous online formats and face-to-face discussions, and share techniques for structuring effective interactions in both spaces.

In this session, you will:

  1. Analyze various discussion formats.
  2. Design an effective discussion activity.

This workshop is part of the Teaching at UW Program.
