Event Details

Date
Thursday, October 20, 2022
Time
5:45-6:45 p.m.
Description
Some 800 million years ago, very primitive animal ancestors found a new way to tell day from night. This kicked off an avalanche of evolutionary innovations that over time led to eyes and visual systems in many parts of the animal kingdom, and eventually to our own visual sense. The lecture takes you on a tour from the first ability to sense light to the first imaging eyes and further on to the advanced visual systems of humans and other animals.
