Description

Join the Machine Learning Community on Tuesday, May 2nd, 12-1pm, to learn how researchers at Promega are using large language models (LLMs) to model the effect of sequence variation on protein function (see Meier et al., 2021 and Hie et al., 2022 for related work). We’ll wrap up the event with an interactive discussion on current and future use-cases of LLMs in research. Those with experience working with LLMs and Transformers are especially encouraged to attend! Presenters include Mike Killoran (Senior Scientist at Promega) and Chris Endemann (Data Science Facilitator at the Data Science Hub).

  1. Artificial evolution of a fluorescent protein technology using large language models, Mike Killoran
  2. An interactive discussion on large language model applications in research, Chris Endemann

RSVP for the post-event social: Want to discuss ML projects and connect with the presenters following this event? Drop in at the ML Community's monthly social — ML+Coffee (May 3rd, 3-5pm). Learn more and register.

Finding the Orchard View room: The Orchard View room is located on the 3rd floor of Discovery Building — room 3280. To get to the third floor, take the elevator located next to the Aldo’s Cafe kitchen (see photo). If you cannot attend in-person, we invite you to stream the event via Zoom.

Join the ML Community google group: The ML Community has a google group it uses to send reminders about its upcoming events. If you aren't already a member of the google group, you can use this link to join. Note that you have to be signed into a google account to join the group.
