Description
World Records celebrates the acquisition of the Mayrent Collection of 78s by the UW-Madison Mills Music Library. This symposium will focus on the important role the Mayrent Collection and other archives like it play in cultural continuity and historical study. Placing the Mayrent Collection in context will be presentations on American vernacular musics along with papers on collection management and access, digital folklore, copyright, and the legal standing of historical recordings.
