Description
Carol Pfaff, professor of linguistics. This talk outlines the historical framework on immigration from Turkey to various countries of northwestern Europe and the sociolinguistic patterns of language use among first generation immigrants and their children. These patterns reflect some aspects of "integration" which has become a politically loaded issue and a strong factor in shaping immigration and naturalization policies, and the establishment of obligatory "integration classes" for migrants.
