An Evening of Traditional Brazilian Music

The UW World Percussion Ensemble and Grupo Balança will host an evening of traditional Brazilian music, featuring Maracatu from the state of Pernambuco, Samba Reggae from Bahia, and Samba Enredo and Pagode from Rio de Janeiro. The ensemble is comprised of students from the School of Music and is dedicated to studying styles of percussion from outside the European tradition. The ensemble studies Brazilian culture and history through the genres found in the country.
