Event Details

Date
Wednesday, June 26, 2013
Time
7 p.m.
Description
We will also discuss the dramatic revolution in numerical weather prediction and remote surveillance of the atmosphere that has increased the average tornado warning lead time from under 5 minutes in 1984 to just over 15 minutes currently. I will suggest that the combination of current weather prediction capabilities and remote sensing technologies offers an unprecedented ability to protect the public in the face of these powerful storms.
