Wednesday, July 24, 2013
This talk will celebrate some of the countless ways in which microbes help us thrive and survive, from the delectable (they facilitate fermentation of foods like cheese, yogurt, and sauerkraut) to the digestive (they synthesize vitamins and help us absorb nutrients) to the downright death-defying (they aid our immune system in fending off marauding microbes that cause disease, engaging in a battle royal held in the arena of the human body).
