Description
Assistant Professor of History of Science Nicole Nelson uses ethnographic data to explore how knowledge accumulates in an animal behavior genetics laboratory. She argues that animal behavior geneticists end up accumulating much more knowledge about the effects of the environment on behavior than they do about the effects of genes because of the time and energy invested in creating an controlled experimental setting.
