The public is obsessed with social networking and the new ways to connect online. Professor James Fowler suggests that to understand the new world online, you have to start with real, every day, face-to-face networks we have always had. To show how social networks have a powerful effect on a wide range of human behaviors and function online, Fowler will discuss early work he conducted on Facebook and a recent experiment he and coauthors conducted with 61 million people in the 2010 US Election.
