Materials Science Program and MRSEC Seminar

"Ferroelectric Nanomembrane Systems," Deborah Paskiewicz, Argonne National Lab

Event Details

Date
Thursday, October 30, 2014
Time
4 p.m.
Description
Nanomembranes (NMs) are nanoscale-thickness sheets of single-crystalline materials that are freestanding, flexible, compliant and transferrable. The unique mechanical properties of NMs make them suitable for (1) strain engineering, where the controlled introduction of changes in lattice structure can alter the fundamental properties of materials; and (2) materials integration, where NM bonding can be used to join dissimilar materials, thus creating novel interfaces or multifunctional devices.
