Description
Prof. Darryl Thelen, ME Dept., UW-Madison. Tendon tissue properties have a major effect on the behavior and performance of muscles during voluntary human movement. The primary function of tendon is often considered to be to transmit loads from the muscles to the skeleton. However, tendons exhibit complex structure and spatially varying elasticity that is tuned to allow effective muscle fiber contractions and efficient energy storage-and-release of the muscle-tendon unit.
