It is standard practice in the indexing of EBSD patterns to determine the location and orientation of individual Kikuchi bands and deduce from them the crystallographic orientation of the grain that gave rise to the pattern. In this presentation, we present an alternative algorithm based on a combination of forward modeling and a dictionary matching approach.
