Weston Roundtable: Daniel Cziczo
A Better Understanding of Climate Through Studies of Ice Clouds
Event Details
Date
Thursday, October 8, 2015
Time
4:15-5:15 p.m.
Location
Description
Clouds form when water molecules condense on particles such as dust, vehicle emissions and sea salt. Professor Cziczo's team samples atmospheric clouds from mountaintop sites and NASA research aircraft, and creates clouds under laboratory conditions. He will examine how clouds offset some warming from greenhouse gases but, more important, how clouds create uncertainty in projecting Earth's future climate. The focus will be on cirrus ice clouds, which are critical for comprehending climate.
