Description
Self-taught singer, guitarist and pianist Joan Armatrading began writing and playing music at the age of 14. As the first female artist from the United Kingdom to debut on the Billboard Blues chart at number one and the first female UK artist to be nominated for a Grammy in blues, Armatrading has since been a three-time Grammy nominee, Ivor Novello Award recipient and winner of a Lifetime Achievement Award as a part of the 2012 Acoustic Festival of Britain. She has toured for over 42 years and released 18 studio albums.
Says Armatrading about her current tour,"I will never retire but this will be the last major tour that I will undertake. For the first time these concerts will be me solo on stage playing the guitar and piano and singing. I want these concerts to be a special lively interactive one-to-one experience. I have absolutely enjoyed the last 42 years of performances but now, with my final major tour, I want to capture a unique memory for both myself and the audience."
Opening is Savannah, Georgia native Kristina Train, who performed with Herbie Hancock and his band as lead singer and violinist. Train blends country, soul, blues and folk in her music, creating strong, emotional performances.
