Description
Anchored by Kelly Gallagher's video essay "The Herstory of the Female Filmmaker", this program celebrates the contributions of some modern women artists to avant-garde film and video art. The films that follow are thoughtful, probing pieces focusing on moments of violence as they're experienced through media ("Life is an Opinion, Fire a Fact" by Karen Yasinsky), femininity and the surveillance state ("The Amateurist" by Miranda July), and the aftermath of attacks in Gaza ("Everywhere was the Same" by Basma Alsharif).
