Although born to a traditional Moroccan-Jewish (Sephardic) family, Aviel grew up living among and assimilating to his Eastern European (Ashkenazi) peers. He is now a captain in the IDF’s artillery Corps. Aviel is suddenly required to leave his current life to return home to the deathbed of his grandfather, Pinto. Although most of his family severed ties with Pinto due to difficult family relations, Aviel was the only family member who reestablished connection with the old man. Piinto had him swear that one day he will reopen his grandfathers once prosperous falafel stand and return it to its former glory, but Aviel has since forgotten that oath.
