Description
"This jazz aristocrat has the kind of chops that stop you in your tracks." – VIBE Magazine.
Lili K is the 24 year old songstress whose name and throwback jazzy style has made an evident impact on the music world. Accompanied by the Lili K Band, her smooth and sultry sound is countered flawlessly by her quirky and energetic performances.
She's the voice you hear in your favorite Chicago hip-hop artist's music (cue Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa), but her soulful and original sound is all her own. With inspirations from Ella Fitzgerald to Erykah Badu to Sharon Jones, Lili's love for music and her respect for its history is heard loud and clear. The melodic keys, hard-hitting drums, guitar licks, and soulful bass of her band are the driving forces behind her vibrant and powerful live shows.
Originally from Milwaukee, WI, she began performing in her early years through church and elementary school choirs. By the time Lili K turned ten, she began writing her own original lyrics. Following her completion at Milwaukee High School of the Arts where she was trained in classical, opera, and jazz, Lili graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management from her alma mater, Columbia College Chicago.
With performances at Made In America, North Coast Music Festival, SXSW, Lollapalooza, Pitchfork, Summerfest and CMJ, Lili has shared stages with Musiq Soulchild, The Suffers, Jidenna, Dwele, BJ The Chicago Kid, Chance The Rapper, and Vic Mensa. She was listed 'Best of 2013' in Rolling Stone, NPR, and Complex for her feature work with Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa, and has since been recognized by the Huffington Post, Karen Civil, and VIBE.
