  1921 Marie Curie made her first visit to the United States. The purpose o
 f her visit was to receive a gram of radium that was to be presented to he
 r in a White House ceremony by President Warren Harding. The extraordinary
  cost of the radium\, $100\,000\, had been raised by a national Marie Curi
 e Fund with individual donations from the Women of America. The talk will
