 s. Mark Denison is a Professor of Pediatrics as well as Pathology\, Microb
 iology and Immunology at VUMC. He studies coronaviruses using molecular ge
 netics. His work has shown that a viral exonuclease has a chief role in pr
 oofreading nucleotide mismatches that occur during viral RNA replication a
 nd that this proofreading provides coronaviruses with natural resistance t
