Join us at Afternoon Conversation Series (ACS) for an interesting conversation! ACS is a facilitated weekly experience put on by WUD Global Connections where you can engage in friendly conversations over different interactive themes presented each week. This week our topic of discussion will be "Does Islam need reformations?".Islam is the world’s 2nd largest religion and also the world’s fastest growing religion. Perhaps very far sighted and progressive in its times through ideas about divorce and rights of women, Islam has affected a lot of negative PR since the last part of 20th century. Is Islam throughout the world going through a phase of conservatism? From Middle East to Indonesia, is it time to hold Islamic countries to hold them accountable for blasphemy laws and rights of women? Is the Arab culture being used as a proxy for Islamic authenticity? Join us in conversation with Prof. Eunsook Jung as we explore the recent trends in Islam.Come and join us for a relaxing Friday afternoon and make new friends. FREE Refreshments are served on a first-come, first-served basis each week—come early to ensure your treat! Our events are open to UW students, faculty and staff as well as Union members and their guests. Click here to RSVP on Facebook!
