Description
Wisconsin native John McCutcheon resonates positive messages through his acoustic folk music. Pairing lyrics that focus on community roots and personal anecdotes with impressive skill on a dozen different instruments, McCutcheon’s shows provide an unexpected intimacy of conversation and emotion – perfect for the Play Circle’s intimate setting. His performance is a tribute to Pete Seeger’s 100th Birthday, a folk legend who similarly used musical storytelling for societal commentary and change. Hailed internationally for his songwriting and having produced over 30 recordings (seven of which were nominated for Grammy Awards), McCutcheon maintains the approachable presence of a friend or neighbor; he distinctly marks his music with sense of place, family and strength. Live performances are McCutcheon’s preference, and he often will explain his chords and strumming to create an interactive experience for the audience. Don’t miss your chance to see the man described by Johnny Cash as “the most impressive instrumentalist I’ve ever heard.” "He has an uncanny ability to breathe new life into the familiar. His storytelling has the richness of fine literature.” — Washington Post More information about John McCutcheon can be found on his website .
