Description
A world premiere: Floe MADness, delusion, OIL extraction, the vanishing of Arctic ICE, and rising SEA levels. Floe is a new dance theater work by The Seldoms that embodies the fragmentation of our global conversation on climate change as it veers from anti-science conspiracy theories to the very real impacts of global warming on communities from the Gulf Coast to the Arctic Circle. FLOE  is a dance theater work about climate instability: vanishing polar ice, rising sea levels, extreme weather, forced migration, the tension between denial and evidence, and adaptation and resilience. The performance work, by turns irreverent and elegiac, embodies the fragmentation of our global conversation on climate change as it veers from anti-science conspiracy theories to the very real and urgent impacts of global warming. The world premiere of Floe takes place at the Wisconsin Union Theater January 22-24, 2020. The piece is curated so that patrons move between halls (Shannon Hall and the Play Circle) for a truly unique experience. Founding artistic director of The Seldoms Carrie Hanson will also be the Interdisciplinary Artist is Residence at UW-Madison in Fall 2019.
