Description
Join WUD Cuisine  and WUD Alternative Breaks to learn about food insecurity using topic prompts and colored pencils and oil pastels to create drawings of where our food comes from. Dr. Barak will discuss food insecurity in America and Dane County and demonstrate food distribution with a simulation. Fruit kabobs, tea, chips and salsa will be provided. 5-7pm | Art making and snacks | Studios G and O 6-6:30pm | Dr. Barak discusssion | Festival Room 6:30-7pm | Food distribution simulation | Festival Room Dr. Barak is a professor and researcher at UW-Madison. She is the Principle investigator of Barak Lab which studies the biology of S. Enterica in both the phyllosphere and rhizosphere. In addition to her lab Dr. Barak also teaches Global Food Security for the Global Food Security first year interest group. Her BS is in Marine Biology from San Jose State University. Her PhD is from the University of California-Davis in the department of plant pathology.
