Description
The WUD Global Connections Women’s Empowerment Gala will be a formal banquet that celebrates the work of our female-identifying community of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This event will kickoff our entire WUD-wide Human Rights Week campaign during the first week of December. Throughout the week, both Memorial Union and Union South buildings will be hosting programming from all WUD committees and Hoofers clubs dedicated to providing an educational experience for all UW-Madison students. Our goal is to unite students of UW-Madison through a night of social activities, student performances, guest speakers and formal dining. In addition, we will be honoring special members of the female-identifying student community with a short award ceremony. Overall, this will be a culminating event that celebrates not only the history of women’s impact on human rights, but the work that current UW-Madison students are doing. Our speaker for this event is Sahra V. Nguyen, an award-winning filmmaker, director, writer & entrepreneur based in New York. As a keynote speaker, she speaks on a range of topics including Asian American issues and identity, pursuing a non-conventional creative career, the power of media and storytelling, and expanding the human potential beyond stereotypical ideas of success.  More information about our guest can be found on her webpage .   This event is free and open to all current UW-Madison students. LOOK OUT FOR THE AWARD NOMINATION FORM (will be released week of Nov 11th!) The Eventbrite (event guest platform) for this event is now live! RSVP for you and a plus one here:   Eventbrite RSVP
