Ho-Chunk Nation Flag-Raising on Bascom Hill: Honor, Respect, and Sacrifice
Join us for the lowering of the flags at 4 pm
On November 5, for the first time in the history of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, the Ho-Chunk Nation flag will fly above Bascom Hall.
We invite you to join us for the historic Ho-Chunk Nation Flag-Raising on Bascom Hill: Honor, Respect, and Sacrifice on Friday, November 5, 2021, at 10:00am – 10:45am. The public also is invited to view the lowering of the flags at 4 p.m. This event is part of an ongoing commitment to moving from ignorance to awareness as we build Our Shared Future with the Ho-Chunk Nation and the other First Nations in Wisconsin.
The event is open to the public, who are welcome to view the ceremony from public spaces on Bascom Hill.
We are honored to welcome members of the Ho-Chunk Nation to campus for the 10 am event. Invited dignitaries include Traditional Chief Clayton Winneshiek, Vice President Karena Thundercloud, the Wisconsin Dells Singers and the Sanford WhiteEagle Legion Post 556.
