Description
The purpose of this event is to provide open and transparent discussion in a safe space about the reality of UW-Madison’s history and frequency of sexual assaults and/or rapes on campus. This event is designed to be informational in nature and will feature several guest speakers from the UW-Madison Faculty’s GWS department, the UHS Violence Prevention and Survivor Services Advocacy Program, UnityPoint Meriter Hospital’s Forensic Nurse Examiner Program, Chimera Self-Defense Program, SafeWalk Services, PAVE-UW and the UW-Madison Title IX Office. The discussion will feature topics including UW Madison’s current statistics related to sexual assaults on campus, informing students about where to go and what to do in the event of a sexual assault, who mandatory reports are or are not and why expanded survivor services are needed on our campus now more than ever. Furthermore, this event seeks to take preventative action by providing students with a demonstration on self-defense in sexual situations and an overview of free services offered by the university aimed at keeping students safe.
