DESCRIPTION:Hilario Mantovani explores the gut microbiome of dairy cows to 
 advance animal health and efficiency. Mantovani is an assistant professor 
 in the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences. He joined UW-Madison in Ma
 rch of this year focusing on rumen microbial physiology as it relates to a
 nimal biology and advancing the sustainability of animal sourced food syst
 ems. Mantovani’s research centers on understanding the functions and mec
 hanisms of interaction of gastrointestinal microbes and exploring their po
 tential to promote livestock health and increase animal productivity.\n\nC
