DESCRIPTION:Overview If you work or recreate in the outdoors or in other au
 stere environments where access to medical care is delayed or communicatio
 n is unreliable\, the Wilderness First Responder course is for you. It is 
 the industry standard for professional guides\, trip leaders\, search and 
 rescue team members\, outdoor recreationists\, and international travelers
 . The Hybrid WFR combines  3 modules of online learning with 5 days of in-
 person training . You’ll begin by completing work in an online platform 
 that includes readings\, videos and quizzes. Each module requires 10 to 15
  hours to complete\, and you’ll need to finish them before the in-person
  portion begins. The 5-day in-person course will focus on skills and scena
 rios. Upon completion\, you will be able to conduct a thorough physical ex
 am\, obtain a patient history\, assess vital signs\, provide emergency car
 e in the wilderness\, and make crucial evacuation decisions. You'll learn 
 both in the classroom and in outdoor settings regardless of weather\, so c
 ome prepared for wet\, muddy\, cold\, or hot environments! Should I take t
 he WFA or the WFR? &nbsp\;The Wilderness First Aid ( WFA ) is a two-day co
 urse that primarily focuses on the basics of how to respond to an emergenc
 y situation in a remote area. This is perfect for people who are on remote
  day hikes or shorter trips with friends. This class focuses on the Patien
 t Assessment System and how to start making decisions on patient care. The
  Wilderness First Responder ( WFR )&nbsp\;is an industry standard for outd
 oor professionals with outdoor schools and guide companies. If you are lea
 ding a group in remote areas\, this more advanced WFR training&nbsp\;can p
 rovide you with more in-depth knowledge and practice dealing with a variet
 y of first aid situations. Prerequisites No previous first aid training is
  required. You must be 16 years old to attend this course. Certification P
 articipants are required to pass both written and practical examinations t
 o obtain certification. Successful course completion earns you a NOLS Wild
 erness Medicine Wilderness First Responder and&nbsp\;Adult & Child CPR cer
 tification. EMTs are eligible for 70 hours of continuing education (CEUs).
 &nbsp\;All certifications are current for two years. Location Primary clas
 sroom instruction will be held at: Mendota Lodge\, Lower Level Memorial Un
 ion 800 Langdon St. Madison\, WI 53706 We are not able to offer housing or
  camping for this course. There are hotels and hostels available nearby. F
 ood will not be provided\, but there are plenty of options available for p
 urchase&nbsp\; in the building &nbsp\;and at nearby locations to Memorial 
 Union. There is a refrigerator and microwave to chill and warm food. You c
