DESCRIPTION:Why Bonnnie is an Austin bedroom pop quartet that explores the
disjointed feelings between our inner and outer selves\, alternating betwe
en light buoyancy and hazy intensity. Half a decade ago\, vocalist Blair H
owerton&nbsp\;moved back to Texas after graduating college and&nbsp\;start
ed the Why Bonnie project as a way to work through her years of unheard ma
terial.&nbsp\;She found an easy collaborator in childhood friend Kendall P
owell\, who traded her classical piano training for new synth magic. Soon\
, guitarist Sam Houdek and bassist Chance Williams joined the line-up\, an
d the group’s first two EPs showed off a penchant for fuzzy guitar pop w
ith synth flourishes. BaileyRP is currently making waves in the American m
usic scene for bringing a digital maximalist touch to the recently popular
ized “stripped-down” genre\, for the first time ever\, and in a way th
at has A&R’s calling her the “obvious lovechild of Mk.gee and Imogen H
eap”\, and a “pioneer of digicore-folk.” Hailing from Longmont\, Col
orado\, and heavily influenced by themes of ethereal fantasy\, introspecti
 on\, spiritual growth\, romance\, and heartbreak\, Bailey draws artistic i
nspiration from artists like Dijon\, The 1975\, Aquilo\, 2hollis\, and Ed
Sheeran\, to create sonic masterpieces that encapsulate the listener withi
n a world that resembles a Minecraft realm\, or a vintage Super Mario leve
 l. Half Gringa is Chicago-based singer\, multi-instrumentalist\, and songw
riter Isabel Olive. She has demonstrated stunning emotional intelligence a
nd songwriting elegance\, and it has not gone unnoticed. The Chicago Read
er named Half Gringa’s debut\, Gruñona as among Chicago’s Best Alb
ums of the Decade while VICE named her sophomore full-length\, Force to
Reckon as one of 22 Essential Albums of 2020\, saying that Half Gringa s
pecializes in “empathic and twangy songs about grief and getting stuck i
 n your own thoughts.”\n\nCONTACT: music@union.wisc.edu\n\nURL: https://u
