This symposium examines the persistence of imperial structures in the wake of the wave of decolonization in Asia. Our goals include: 1) To reexamine the dominant cold war frame for post 1945 Asia 2) To explore the culture and political-economy of regionalism 3) To think about the current conjuncture and its possibilities for new histories of post-1945
