Bolaji Campbell, Rhode Island School of Design, tells how the Yoruba female goddess (orisa) inspires the imagination of artists, scholars and philosophers. Campbell explores the multifaceted nature of these water divinities and the ways they shape new religious movements in the African diaspora. This lecture is held in conjunction with the exhibition "Mami Wata: Arts for Water Spirits in Africa and Its Diasporas." Galleries open until 6 p.m.
