Recent excavations at the site of HD-1 at Ras al-Hadd, Oman have yielded a large collection of fish and marine mammal remains that provide a comparison to materials from the site of Balakot, Pakistan. Both areas are on the Gulf of Oman/Arabian Sea. Both areas have access to the same types of aquatic resources, but habitat and environmental differences created different opportunities as well as different types of exploitation and extraction technology.
