The use of complex binary bronze alloys of a high tin content will be discussed from various contexts in Indian antiquity. In particular the specialized use of the hot forged and quenched high tin beta (23%) bronze used to skillfully make vessels found at numerous South Indian megalithic contexts. Discoveries from urn burials at the site of Adichanallur and from cairns and stone circles in the Nigiri region of Tamil Nadu in the 19th century were broadly attributed to the south Indian Iron Age...
