After losing her good looks to a chemical fire and her dashing fiancé to a duplicitous assistant, Nora Goodrich accidentally kills low-life alcoholic Jane Karaski (whom Nora had previously hit with her car). So naturally, Nora hides Jane’s body, adopts Jane’s identity, travels to California for a series of major plastic surgeries, and sets out to win back her man.
